There is an app being worked on that helps non verbal people or people with autism communicate. It helps them to develop communication, speech and language skills. They even won an award for this by the German Academic International Network- Transatlantic Entrepreneurship Network. This is only one of the many apps that are being created in order to make communication simpler to everyone involved. They use augmentative communication as an alternative way to help students and adults with language disorders use expressive language or receptive language. Augmentative communication can be accomplished through assistive technology devices such as computers or hand held devices. Twenty years ago if a kid was non-verbal the resources were very limited. Advanced communication was limited to low technology such as picture communication systems and sign language. They are even becoming so advanced that children who are non verbal are able to text their parents based on what they need at that moment.
